The Andalusian Association of Marble Entrepreneurs, as a mediating entity of the stone activity in Andalusia, the Ministry of Industrial Policy and Energy of the Regional Government of Andalusia and the City Council of Macael, as holder of the mining rights, have formed the Monitoring Committee of the Agreement for the financing of the Collaborating Technical Office (OTC) that will improve the development, coordination, review and
monitoring of the Sierra de Macael Restoration and Waste Management Plan. The public-private agreement was signed last March by the Minister of Industrial Policy and Energy, Jorge Paradela, the Mayor of Macael, Raúl Martínez Requejo, and Jesús Posadas, President of AEMA, after the measure was included in the CRECE Value Chain Plan for the Stone and Marble Industry of Andalusia.
In the appointment of the constitution of the commission, where the territorial delegate of Industrial Policy and Energy, Guillermo Casquet, was also present, proposals have been presented for the identification and assessment of the scope of the program of actions for the development of the Agreement. Among other actions, it includes an analysis of the update of the mining waste management and restoration plan, a situation analysis and the forecasts and execution guidelines for the first year of the Agreement, both for the rehabilitation plan for the natural area affected by the research and exploitation of mineral resources, as well as the mining waste management plan.
The implementation of the OTC responds to the sector’s demand for support from the administration for the protection and rehabilitation of the area affected by mining activities and the taking of the necessary actions to prevent and reduce as far as possible any effect on the environment and human health, as well as the research and development of mineral resources.
