  • The deadline for applications submission for the companies is closed and the Andalusian Marble Industry Association (AEMA by its initial in Spanish) starts with the preparations of what is the most important annual event of the Marble Sector nationwide.

Macael, September 19, 2018.- The Macael Awards: An event to celebrate the work of the Macael Marble Sector, which constantly reinvents itself and knows how to innovate. This promotional act of the Natural Stone, consolidated as the most relevant nationwide, which with this edition is now thirty-two years old, will take place the next Friday, November 16, as usual, in Macael, Almería (Spain).

The Andalusian Marble Industry Association is already immersed in the preparations for its most significant annual call, whose deadline for applications submission for the AEMA’s companies culminated on September 15. In the following weeks, the relevant meetings will be held with the members of the Jury, formed by the Board of Directors of AEMA, to choose the finalists of this XXXII edition.

The awards will be granted to those candidates who have gathered a greater number of votes among the members of the Jury, having previously submitted their application with the documentation and / or the necessary graphic material for the proper assessment of their merits.

The 2017 awards went to Mr. Antonio López García, with the Person Award; Mr. Gaspar Llanes Díaz-Salazar, with the Award for Communication; Hipotels Complex, Palma de Mallorca, with the National Award, ‘Villa Ricotta’, with the Design Award, ‘Vine Street’ Building, Los Angeles, with the Award for the work in ‘Blanco Macael Marble and ‘Caesars Palace’ Hotel in Las Vegas, the Kimpton Seafire Hotel in Cayman Islands, Le Meridian Hotel in Taiwan, private residence in Kenya and Rijnboutt Architecture Studio in Netherlands, which got the International Awards North America, Latin America-Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Europe, respectively. 

Once again, the event, with a consolidated international character and a marked transgressor accent, will coincide with the celebration of the ‘IX Encuentro Internacional de la Piedra’ (International Meeting of the Stone), organized by Extenda- Agencia Andaluza de Promoción Exterior (Andalusian Agency of Foreign Promotion). This activity realization, in joint collaboration with AEMA and in parallel to the Macael Marble Awards, is the result of the positive balance extracted by the international agents participating in it who also attend the event.

AEMA praises the companies predisposition, commitment and effort with respect to the quality of the projects presented and the great work that, year by year, the Andalusian Marble Sector performs to consolidate itself in the market, both nationally and internationally, through the differentiation, innovation and marketing without borders.
